It‘s #throwbackthursday and I revel in memories of my spontaneous trip to Capri last month. I had a short stay in Naples, grabbed my basket and just took the ferry to the island from where we went for a speed boat ride around the island and to the famous Blue Grotto. It’s this time of the year when the leafs turn brown and summer turns Indian ???- it’s the perfect moment for a short trip to my favourite island #Sylt. I took the brand new #icecandy basket to #Buhne16, a gem of a beach club, hidden in the dunes of Kampen. It’s a crowded hotspot during high season but during late summer you find your space. No matter if you take one of the blue and white beach chairs or sit down at one of the tables amongst sand dunes and sea grass - a laidback chillout day is guaranteed! And don’t forget to try the grilled scampi and a cold bottle of rosé!

Sylt, my love. Es war Zeit, dass ich DIR einen
Blog-Beitrag widme!
Dieses charakteristische Fleckchen Erde inmitten der Nordsee
ist alles außer gewöhnlich. So vielfältig wie ihre Facetten sind die
Geschichten, die sich um diese Insel ranken. Viele sagen, diese norddeutscheste aller Insel ist das Gegenstück zu den berühmten Hamptons an der US-Ostküste.
Ich persönlich verbinde mit Sylt ein Stückchen Heimat und
viele schöne Erinnerungen, nicht nur aus meiner Kindheit, sondern auch aus der
jüngeren Geschichte meiner Existenz. Ich würde sagen, dass diese Insel mich
geprägt hat, denn ich bin mit ihr aufgewachsen und kann mich an fast kein Jahr
erinnern, in dem ich nicht zumindest ein paar Wochen auf der Insel verbracht
habe.
Sylt ist für mich ALLES und dabei voller Gegensätze –
dekadent und bescheiden, exzessiv und entgiftend, rasant und entschleunigend,
deutsch und international – aber immer natürlich, ehrlich und zu jeder Jahreszeit
wunderschön.
Meine persönliche Empfehlung ist, Sylt außerhalb der
Hauptsaison zu besuchen.
Wenn die Menschenmassen sich anderen Zielen zuwenden
und nur ein paar vereinzelte Kenner sich nach Sylt verirren, dann hat man die
Strände, das Naturschauspiel des Windes im Dünengras und der Wellen, die sich
imposant vor der Küste auftürmen, ganz für sich.
Dann entfaltet sich der wahre Charme der Insel und es ist fast, als hätte man eine intime Bindung zu diesem Stückchen Erde in der stürmischen Nordsee. Wenn sich die Lungen mit der salzigen Meeresluft füllen und
die Möven über einem im Wind zu schweben scheinen… das ist das pure Leben.
Doch auch während der Hauptsaison hat Sylt ihren Reiz. Das
ist die Zeit, wenn sich ein Aufenthalt wie ein Klassentreffen anfühlt und man
Bekannte wiedersieht, die man oft das ganze Jahr über nicht sieht. Auf Sylt
kreuzen sich die Wege.
Mein letzter Besuch auf der Insel war an Pfingsten. An
diesem Wochenende findet mein Lieblings-Event statt, der Pfingst-Chill in der
Sturmhaube in Kampen (www.sturmhaube.de).
Ein ursprünglich spontanes
Get-Together mit Musik an der Außenbar, das sich über die Jahre zur
ausgewachsenen Open-Air Party gemausert hat und durch viele Phasen der
Kommerzialisierung ging…. der Preis von 95€ pro Eintrittskarte war die
bisherige Spitze dieser Entwicklung. Man kann darüber streiten, ob das dem
Event gut getan hat, aber ich bin immernoch eingefleischter Fan. Denn es gibt
nichts Schöneres, als bei guter House-Musik mit einem kalten Rosé in der Hand
umgeben von Dünen unter blauem Himmel zu stehen und mit Freunden das Leben zu
feiern.
Mein Tipp: Am Pfingstsonntag schon vormittags
erscheinen und sich einen der besten Plätze auf der Terrasse sichern.
Es gibt, gerade in Kampen, viele gastronomische „Hotspots“,
die zu solchen Terminen heillos überlaufen sind. Daher zieht es mich oft in
Restaurants, die noch nicht von der breiten Masse entdeckt wurden.
Mein Lieblings-Italiener „Casa Bianca“ ist so ein Restaurant
(www.casa-bianca-sylt.de) … auf halbem Weg zwischen Wenningstedt und
Westerland gelegen, bietet es ideale Bedingungen, um erstmal „anzukommen“ und
sich nach der Fahrt mit dem Autozug über den Hindenburgdamm bei hochklassigen
italienischen Speisen und einem Glas Wein zu stärken.
Während viele Restaurants keine erkennbare Relation mehr
zwischen Preis und Leistung erkennen lassen, empfangen die Gastgeber Giuseppe
und Bogumila Borzi ihre Gäste mit italienischer Herzlichkeit und servieren
erstklassige italienische Spezialitäten, wie Trüffel, Pasta, Pizza, Filetto di
Manzo und frische Fischgerichte zu fairen Preisen.
Besonders schön ist es, noch vor Sonnenuntergang zu
erscheinen und auf der Terrasse oder im Garten platz zu nehmen.
Mein Tipp: die
Tische an denen man in der inseltypischen Sitzgelegenheit, dem Strandkorb,
Platz nehmen kann.
Ein weiteres Highlight, das man sich an Pfingsten nicht
entgehen lassen sollte, ist ein
entspannter Tag an der Buhne 16 in List (buhne16.wix.com).
Schon der Weg vom Parkplatz durch die Dünen ist ein Erlebnis.
Diese legendäre Strand-Bude mit Gastronomie liegt,
windgeschützt in den Dünen am beliebtesten Strandabschnitt der Insel. Hier
tummelt sich bei gutem Wetter die Haute Volé Deutschlands mit Kind und Kegel und
nippt an eiskaltem Rosé während alte Bekannte und Freunde begrüßt werden und
sich die Golden Retriever und Labradore im Sand suhlen.
Eine illustre Idylle, abgerundet durch gute
Musik und Essen vom Grill, wie Currywurst und Burger, oder eine deftige Kartoffelsuppe aus der Strandbude. Rustikal, herzlich und perfekt um an einem
der Tische in der Sonne zu versacken…. wie viele Flaschen Rosé es am Ende
waren, weiss sowieso niemand mehr.
Mein
Tipp: Im Anschluss besser keine Termine machen und bei gutem Wetter den
Sonnenuntergang am Strand erleben ;).
Nach so viel Wein und gutem Essen, brauche ich am nächsten
Tag meist eine kleine Auszeit und suche die Abgeschiedenheit eines weniger
stark besuchten Strandes. Ich kann für einen Ausflug mit Strandspaziergang den
Lister Ellenbogen empfehlen. Schon die Fahrt durch die Sylter Heidelandschaft
ist malerisch – als ich Pfingsten auf der Insel war, hatten die Schafe gerade
Babys bekommen. Die freilaufenden Tiere entspannten sich in der Sonne und
ließen sich auch nicht von mir und meiner Kamera aus der Ruhe bringen.
Leider war es an dem Tag als ich zum Ellenbogen gefahren bin

unserer Lieblingsrestaurants mit anschließendem Drink in einer der Bars auf dem
Strönwey, besser bekannt als „Whisky-Meile“.
Am liebsten esse ich bei „Manne Pahl“ (www.manne-pahl.de) am Ortseingang von
Kampen. Das Restaurant gehört dem Schweizer Pius Regli, der das Restaurant
zusammen mit seiner Tochter führt und der selbst, auch über die Grenzen der
Insel hinweg, Prominenz erlangt hat. Das Manne Pahl, das dieses Jahr 30.
Geburtstag feiert, ist eine echte Institution. Ob zum Brunch, auf einen
Mittagssnack oder abends – das Manne Pahl erfreut sich, nicht zuletzt aufgrund
seiner immer soliden doch dabei exzellenten Küche, vernünftiger Preisgestaltung
und der Herzlichkeit der Gastgeber, seit Jahrzehnten größter Beliebtheit.
Der
Weinkeller ist gut sortiert und bietet einige besondere Tropfen, die der Chef
oft persönlich empfiehlt. Mein Tipp: Einen Tisch im Wintergarten reservieren,
in dem Kunst wechselnder zeitgenössischer Künstler ausgestellt wird.
Kulinarisch: Unbedingt das Wiener Schnitzel mit Preiselbeeren und grandiosem
Gurkensalat oder den Pahl Burger – eine Eigenkreation mit Kalbfleisch-Patty und
Trüffelmayonnaise - probieren.
Als Location für einen Drink an der Außenbar habe ich einen
ganz klaren Favoriten: Das Gogärtchen (www.gogaertchen.com)
ist von je her sagenumwoben und war schon Tummelplatz von Gunter Sachs und
anderen Szene-Größen der 60er und 70er Jahre.
Nach dem Ausscheiden des ehemaligen
Wirtes Rolf Seiche, erstrahlte es vor einigen Jahren unter der Führung von
Florian Hühne, in neuem Glanz und erlebte eine Renaissance. Nicht nur die
Räumlichkeiten wurden optisch aufpoliert und modernisiert, ohne die
traditionellen Wurzel zu vergessen, sondern auch die Küche. Die saisonal
wechselnde Karte bietet vorzügliche Speisen für den eher großen Geldbeutel, die
oft originell präsentiert werden.
Dabei werden viele Zutaten aus der Region
bezogen, wie z.B. Urmöhren, Austern und Filet vom Auerochsen. Jetzt schon ein
Klassiker: die Currywurst mit grob geschnittenen Fritten und Trüffelmayo.
Weltklasse.
Aber ich schweife ab…. auch die Bar ist ein Hotspot und
Tummelplatz der „Reichen und Schönen“. Man kann im Gogärtchen, indoor und
outdoor, untermalt von guter Musik (an Pfingsten sogar vom ehemaligen Kult-DJ
des Club Rotes Kliff, Wolf Kolster) an
einem eiskalten Gin Tonic oder Moscow Mule nippen und so den Abend ausklingen
lassen.

König am Sylter Weststrand gibt es ausgezeichnete österreichische Küche und

Tipp: Unbedingt das Café de Paris, eine Rumpsteak mit fluffig aufgeschlagener
Kräuterbutter, oder einen der feinen Edelfische probieren.
Rauchfang (www.rauchfang-kampen.de)
- auch dieses Restaurant und Bar war unter Wirtin Greta, jahrzehntelang einer
der alternativlosen Hotspots auf der Whisky-Meile, und berühmt für rauschende
Partys und Exzesse. Heutzutage ist der Rauchfang unter dem neuen Wirt Björn
Berg nicht minder beliebt. Ich empfehle, tagsüber einen Bellini an der Außenbar
zu trinken.
Sylt, my love. Es war Zeit, dass ich DIR einen
Blog-Beitrag widme!
Dieses charakteristische Fleckchen Erde inmitten der Nordsee
ist alles außer gewöhnlich. So vielfältig wie ihre Facetten sind die
Geschichten, die sich um diese Insel ranken. Viele sagen, diese norddeutscheste aller Insel ist das Gegenstück zu den berühmten Hamptons an der US-Ostküste.
Ich persönlich verbinde mit Sylt ein Stückchen Heimat und
viele schöne Erinnerungen, nicht nur aus meiner Kindheit, sondern auch aus der
jüngeren Geschichte meiner Existenz. Ich würde sagen, dass diese Insel mich
geprägt hat, denn ich bin mit ihr aufgewachsen und kann mich an fast kein Jahr
erinnern, in dem ich nicht zumindest ein paar Wochen auf der Insel verbracht
habe.
Sylt ist für mich ALLES und dabei voller Gegensätze –
dekadent und bescheiden, exzessiv und entgiftend, rasant und entschleunigend,
deutsch und international – aber immer natürlich, ehrlich und zu jeder Jahreszeit
wunderschön.
Meine persönliche Empfehlung ist, Sylt außerhalb der
Hauptsaison zu besuchen.
Wenn die Menschenmassen sich anderen Zielen zuwenden
und nur ein paar vereinzelte Kenner sich nach Sylt verirren, dann hat man die
Strände, das Naturschauspiel des Windes im Dünengras und der Wellen, die sich
imposant vor der Küste auftürmen, ganz für sich.
Dann entfaltet sich der wahre Charme der Insel und es ist fast, als hätte man eine intime Bindung zu diesem Stückchen Erde in der stürmischen Nordsee. Wenn sich die Lungen mit der salzigen Meeresluft füllen und
die Möven über einem im Wind zu schweben scheinen… das ist das pure Leben.
Doch auch während der Hauptsaison hat Sylt ihren Reiz. Das
ist die Zeit, wenn sich ein Aufenthalt wie ein Klassentreffen anfühlt und man
Bekannte wiedersieht, die man oft das ganze Jahr über nicht sieht. Auf Sylt
kreuzen sich die Wege.
Mein letzter Besuch auf der Insel war an Pfingsten. An
diesem Wochenende findet mein Lieblings-Event statt, der Pfingst-Chill in der
Sturmhaube in Kampen (www.sturmhaube.de).
Ein ursprünglich spontanes
Get-Together mit Musik an der Außenbar, das sich über die Jahre zur
ausgewachsenen Open-Air Party gemausert hat und durch viele Phasen der
Kommerzialisierung ging…. der Preis von 95€ pro Eintrittskarte war die
bisherige Spitze dieser Entwicklung. Man kann darüber streiten, ob das dem
Event gut getan hat, aber ich bin immernoch eingefleischter Fan. Denn es gibt
nichts Schöneres, als bei guter House-Musik mit einem kalten Rosé in der Hand
umgeben von Dünen unter blauem Himmel zu stehen und mit Freunden das Leben zu
feiern.
Mein Tipp: Am Pfingstsonntag schon vormittags
erscheinen und sich einen der besten Plätze auf der Terrasse sichern.
Es gibt, gerade in Kampen, viele gastronomische „Hotspots“,
die zu solchen Terminen heillos überlaufen sind. Daher zieht es mich oft in
Restaurants, die noch nicht von der breiten Masse entdeckt wurden.
Mein Lieblings-Italiener „Casa Bianca“ ist so ein Restaurant
(www.casa-bianca-sylt.de) … auf halbem Weg zwischen Wenningstedt und
Westerland gelegen, bietet es ideale Bedingungen, um erstmal „anzukommen“ und
sich nach der Fahrt mit dem Autozug über den Hindenburgdamm bei hochklassigen
italienischen Speisen und einem Glas Wein zu stärken.
Während viele Restaurants keine erkennbare Relation mehr
zwischen Preis und Leistung erkennen lassen, empfangen die Gastgeber Giuseppe
und Bogumila Borzi ihre Gäste mit italienischer Herzlichkeit und servieren
erstklassige italienische Spezialitäten, wie Trüffel, Pasta, Pizza, Filetto di
Manzo und frische Fischgerichte zu fairen Preisen.
Besonders schön ist es, noch vor Sonnenuntergang zu
erscheinen und auf der Terrasse oder im Garten platz zu nehmen.
Mein Tipp: die
Tische an denen man in der inseltypischen Sitzgelegenheit, dem Strandkorb,
Platz nehmen kann.
Ein weiteres Highlight, das man sich an Pfingsten nicht
entgehen lassen sollte, ist ein
entspannter Tag an der Buhne 16 in List (buhne16.wix.com).
Schon der Weg vom Parkplatz durch die Dünen ist ein Erlebnis.
Diese legendäre Strand-Bude mit Gastronomie liegt,
windgeschützt in den Dünen am beliebtesten Strandabschnitt der Insel. Hier
tummelt sich bei gutem Wetter die Haute Volé Deutschlands mit Kind und Kegel und
nippt an eiskaltem Rosé während alte Bekannte und Freunde begrüßt werden und
sich die Golden Retriever und Labradore im Sand suhlen.
Eine illustre Idylle, abgerundet durch gute
Musik und Essen vom Grill, wie Currywurst und Burger, oder eine deftige Kartoffelsuppe aus der Strandbude. Rustikal, herzlich und perfekt um an einem
der Tische in der Sonne zu versacken…. wie viele Flaschen Rosé es am Ende
waren, weiss sowieso niemand mehr.
Mein
Tipp: Im Anschluss besser keine Termine machen und bei gutem Wetter den
Sonnenuntergang am Strand erleben ;).
Nach so viel Wein und gutem Essen, brauche ich am nächsten
Tag meist eine kleine Auszeit und suche die Abgeschiedenheit eines weniger
stark besuchten Strandes. Ich kann für einen Ausflug mit Strandspaziergang den
Lister Ellenbogen empfehlen. Schon die Fahrt durch die Sylter Heidelandschaft
ist malerisch – als ich Pfingsten auf der Insel war, hatten die Schafe gerade
Babys bekommen. Die freilaufenden Tiere entspannten sich in der Sonne und
ließen sich auch nicht von mir und meiner Kamera aus der Ruhe bringen.
